About Natomas Futures

This is the fifth year that we have held the Futures Tournament and we are looking forward once again to hosting this world-class event at Natomas Racket Club.

During the first three years, we have been very fortunate to host some of the best young talent in tennis. We have had such new young American sensations, Sam Querry and John Isner, play in our tournament and use it as a stepping stone in moving their games to new and higher levels. Currently, Sam holds a ATP World Ranking of 50 while winning the Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas earlier this year. John, is currently ranked, 81 and received a lot of notoriety at the U.S.Open, when he took the first set off of World Number One, Roger Federer

Our winner of the 2007 Natomas Futures, Kevin Anderson (South Africa), had the biggest win of his young pro career when in April, he defeated World Number Three, Novak Djokovic. With this win in addition to being a finalist in the Tennis Channel Open, Kevin is already ranked at 107 in the world!

This year’s event is certain to have some surprises and we will enjoy every minute of it as we watch some of the world’s best young tennis players put on a show at Natomas Racquet Club!

USTA PRO CIRCUIT PROVIDES PATHWAY TO PRO TOUR
BACKGROUND ON THE EVENT

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Pro Circuit was launched more than 25 years ago to provide up and coming players with the opportunity to improve their professional ranking in sanctioned events outside of the major pro tours.

Since then, the USTA Pro Circuit has grown to become the largest professional tour for tennis development.  The circuit plays a vital role for hundreds of players in their growth as tennis professionals by providing them with the opportunity to improve every facet of their game by competing against top men and women from around the world.

The events are designed for players to earn ranking points to gain entry into tennis’ most prestigious pro events.  In tennis, the bigger the tournament, the more points a player can win.  Grand Slam events-the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open-are at the top of the ladder and offer the greatest opportunity to earn ranking points.  The ATP tour for men and the WTA for women offer the second largest amount of points.

In the United States, the USTA Pro Circuit offers the next opportunity to earn prize money and points.  Most of the top U.S. pro tennis players come out of the USTA Pro Circuit including Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Justin Henin-Hardenne, Maria Sharapova, James Blake, Amelie Mauresmo, Tim Henman, Todd Martin, Chandra Rubin and Bob and Mike Bryan.
